Lake If you are interested in finding information through the Internet about the nature of Kosovo and Peja, then first you will be presented with the mountainous region of Rugova in the national park Bjeshket e Nemuna. This area is rich of nature beauty and landscapes, mountain vegetation, with very diverse flora and fauna, waters, lakes, rivers, etc. But what made this mountainous region even more unique, raising its natural values, are the two lakes of Rugova, which are located at an altitude of over 1800m. It is a destination that must be visited while to see and experience these two lakes, your starting point will be from Kuqishte Lake, which is located at an altitude of 1680m. After a easy hike with an average length of 2 hours you will reach the target point or Liqenati Lake. Liqenati Lake (Great Lake) is a rare natural beauty, a very attractive lake untouched by human hands and filled with water from crystal-clear springs as well as precipitation created by snow during winter. It presents a lake perfectly integrated with nature, making this place very attractive and unique to visit. It lies at an altitude of 1860m while its surface is 40X60m and the depth reaches up to 7m. It is worth noting that in this lake lives a creature in the form of a lizard known as Triton. It is an amphibian with a tail which has a length of 11cm to 18cm. During the spring season until autumn, it lives in the water of the lake, while in the winter it flees from the lake and shelters somewhere inside the forest where there are moist and shady places to return to in the spring. During your walk to the lake of Drelajve, you will pass a very attractive path that passes along a mountainous alpine area combined with high vegetation such as pine forests, pine trees, etc. but also with low vegetation where during your journey you will come across mountain fruits such as blueberries, blackberries, etc Drelaj Lake (Little Lake) is located at an altitude of 1800m above sea level and is created by collecting water from rain and snow. To see the beauty of this lake, it is best to visit in the spring due to the sufficient amount of water. It has a blue color like the color of human eyes, so even looking at it will make you feel special. During the trek before you reach the lake of Drelajve, there is a source of water which according to the legends of the shepherds is the best source in the entire territory of Rugova. These are the two most beautiful lakes that make these mountains unique and many visitors throughout the year visit them and spend beautiful time in these lakes. The Valley of Shkodra – Unique of this part of mountains is also place knon as “The Valley of Shkodra”. It is part of the lake path that connects the mountains of Peja with those of Deçani and Plava. Apart from being an attractive natural part, it has its national history as part of the connection of the mountainous areas between the territories of the Bjeshkët e Nemuna (Accursed Mountains) villages between Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro. It has been a connecting road of trade caravans and a connection between the Albanian populations in these mountainous areas. In the part of the tourist village, Thethi is located “Çafa e Pejës” (Saddleback of Peja), which shows that in the past, these places served as critical points for the connection of population between them.
